We love our city

One positive thing about Taylor having to do community service for school is that it also forces our family to take a more active part.  Our family participated in a city-wide event called LOVE Wichita on April 25th.  Over 27 area churches pitched in together to do a variety of different projects in the name of Jesus.  We were assigned to a local high school where we we worked outside painting, picking up trash, and putting out A LOT of mulch.  It was extremely windy but fortunately the rain held off.  The children took turns painting and picking up trash and then Taylor and Ken headed to shovel mulch.  It certainly made us all feel better about ourselves at the end of our morning and we all enjoyed helping out in the community.

Both of the boys got a painting lesson from one of our group members.  Ken and Jocelyn made a great team!

jocelyn’s lookin’ older

It’s amazing how fast children grow but today when Jocelyn got her braces on, it aged her instantly by a couple of years.  She’s only 9 but she looks so much older!  I was so proud of her last week when she did so well getting 6 extractions in preparation for today.  This morning she did just as well – she’s such a trooper – an enthusiastically picked out the light teal bands to match her Easter outfit for this upcoming weekend.  Let’s just hope the enthusiasm continues through the endless brushings and required flossing!  Taylor and Jocelyn both have matching metal hardware. . . expensive accessories!

Zach Turns 10

My nephew, Zach, turned 10 on March 26th and we celebrated last night during a family get together.  Here are a few pics of the celebration!

There’s something about getting to light the candles as you get older that certainly appealed to Zach!  He gave up and let Grandad finish up so there were some candles to actually blow out!
